IT students are the first VIP adopters

Date: 29.08.2011.

As part of EAZA Ape Campaign, in which Zagreb Zoo is also participating, more than 300 zoo's are trying to collect finances for an international fund that will support ape conservation projects through various ways and activities.

Zagreb Zoo has, as part of an ape exhibition, set up gorilla-shaped collection boxes for donations. Zagreb Zoo also is selling souvenirs and created a new category for animal adoptions - VIP adopters . This means that during this year every chimpanzee or gibbon adopter, instantly becomes a VIP adopter. Money raised this way is solely aimed for their protection in the wild.

To this day, Zagreb Zoo has collected slightly more than 7.000 kn. The goal is to collect at least 25.000 kn or 3.333 € through 3333 CHALLENGE..

The first that got involved were the students of the 2nd grade of Private high school for economy and information technology from Zagreb. „We think that the entire world needs to participate in actions that preserve both the animals and their habitat, especially those that are far from us, like the ones in SE Asia and Africa. We also feel that young people should be raised and raised in such a way. ˝ theirs teacher Danijela Cvetković said and added: „We want to direct our students on to a right path and of course, one of the ways is the development of consciousness about the need for nature conservation. Unfortunately, such activities are poorly represented and should be more present.“

So far, we have twelve VIP adopters and hope that their number will grow because Apes need help more and more every day.
