On Saturday, 1st of October, at noon at the City Center One shopping mall at Jankomir, will be a formal start of the “Man, where is your mobile phone?” campaign. Zagreb Zoo is starting a big campaign of collecting old mobile phones as part of World Animal Day and Eaza's Ape Campaign. Singer Bojan Jambrošić will be the first to drop his old mobile phones into the special box. We would like to point out the importance of recycling of mobile phones. Old and unused mobile phones leak dozens of dangerous chemicals into nature. On the other hand, because mobile phones are usually not recycled, in search for new raw materials new mines are created in central Africa. Because of that tropical rainforests, habitat of gorillas and chimpanzees, are destroyed. The luckiest participants of the campaign and the class which collects the most mobile phones will be rewarded with appropriate gifts.
On Sunday, 2nd of October, from 11 to 17 hours Zagreb Zoo celebrates World Animal Day. During that time, our visitors will have a chance to get to know representatives of Apes. In a fun way, through solving assignments that are usually given to chimpanzees and gibbons as part of the enrichment programme, visitors will find out why Apes are the most intelligent of all monkeys . The youngest will be able to play a gorilla game about mobile phones and those who prefer creativity will be able to participate in the painting workshop.
On Sunday, a box for collecting old mobile phones will be placed at Zagreb Zoo, so all those who plan to visit Zagreb Zoo are invited to bring their old mobile phones and join the campaign.
