Quality And Environmental Management Policy

Our primary tasks are the fulfilment of the essential functions of a modern Zoo, focusing on the needs and expectations of individual and collective visitors of the Zoo, as well as providing constant and adequate care for our animals, which are the object of interest to all categories of visitors – children, citizens, experts, and scientists.  The successful accomplishment of these tasks is of vital importance when evaluating our success as a Zoo with European inclinations and as an institution that falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Zagreb, its modern history and its natural, architectural, and horticultural identity that surpasses the borders of the city and the region.
By applying universal norms of the profession, regulations, principles, and an internationally recognizable system of quality and environmental management, we strive to express our dedication to and compliance with the civilized accomplishments of modern societies.
Our constant guidance is continuous work on improving all aspects of our activities oriented towards the visitors, animals and employees, with special focus on creating and implementing projects related to the conservation of nature and the environment.
Our employees are motivated, persistent and possess a high level of expertise.  They are eager to, as well as required to continuously educate themselves. Ethical conduct, respect, and tolerance form the core of all interaction at all levels of the organization. 
Providing safety to the visitors during their stay at the educational centre and other facilities of the Zagreb Zoo is the focus of our constant care and supervision. 
We systematically synchronise our activities, working procedures, and actions with applicable laws and regulations, and regularly examine their effects on the environment. We strive to make them as least damaging to the environment as possible.
We manage the disposal of various categories of waste in a lawful, technically and ecologically acceptable manner, creating effective methods of direct reuse of as much waste as possible.
We encourage each employee and all interested parties to take creative actions towards improving the quality and treatment of the environment. 
We set ourselves ambitious, feasible, and quantifiable goals related to the quality and the environment, and encourage every employee to recognize his/ her role, and the benefit in achieving these goals.
We fully integrate the quality and environmental control management into our entire operating system by applying the rigorous ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 norms, and continuously seek to improve its efficiency and result.
